What are deep links?

Deep links are URLs that open your app directly to specific content (e.g., myapp://product/123). They bypass the home screen and navigate users straight to a screen within your app.

Test these scenarios

• Cold start - App fully closed, link should launch and navigate
• Background - App in background, link should bring to foreground
• App not installed - Should handle gracefully (fallback or app store)
• Logged out - Does the link work when user isn't authenticated?

Platform differences

• iOS - Universal Links (https://) and Custom Schemes (myapp://)
• Android - App Links (https://) and Custom Schemes (myapp://)

Common gotchas

• Links behave differently in Safari/Chrome vs in-app browsers
• Messaging apps (Slack, WhatsApp) may wrap links in redirects
• Always test on real devices, not just simulators
